Built for water. Much of the Charleston area sits low, and heavy rain and king tides can leave water standing on driveways and patios. We plan slope and drainage before we dig, compact our crushed-stone base in layers (typically 6 to 8 inches under driveways), and install permeable pavers where water needs somewhere to go.

Made for salt air. On Kiawah, Seabrook, James Island and the barrier islands, we recommend polymeric sand joints and a sealer schedule that keeps salt from soaking into your pavers.

Architectural review experience. In the City of Charleston's historic districts, many visible exterior changes go through the Board of Architectural Review, and communities like Kiawah Island and Daniel Island have their own review boards. For a small additional fee, we can prepare your ARB paperwork, including site plans, product specs and color samples, depending on your community's requirements.

Our process

  1. Free on-site consultation: we measure, check drainage and bring real samples. You're also welcome to visit our showroom.
  2. Computer design drawings and written estimate: you see your project in a computer-generated design drawing before we build, with layout, products, base depth and warranty in writing.
  3. Approvals: for a small additional fee, we prepare the ARB paperwork for your community, and we let you know early if historic review may apply.
  4. Installation: most Charleston-area patios, pool decks and driveways take 2 to 7 working days. Underground utilities are marked through SC 811 before we dig.
  5. Final walkthrough: we review the finished project and your care plan.
